March 17th, 2018 Presented by Array Music & Off Centre DJ School Featuring: Cheldon Paterson (SlowPitchSound) and Erik Laar (Circles and Squares) of Legendary Toronto turntablist duo iNSiDEaMiND. Come and dig deeper into the art forms of turntable manipulation and live improvised sample based music. Learn about turntablist techniques including the baby scratch, back spin and release, all are are essential pieces in creating this new form of music creation. The workshops will be guided by turntable experts and Off Centre DJ School Instructors Cheldon Paterson (SlowPitchSound) & Erik Laar (Circles & Squares). On Saturday we offer 6.5 hours of specialized Ableton workshops ranging from a beginner basics, to advanced sample techniques, and of course live performance preparation and execution with special guest instructor Hprizm. Take part in 1, 2, or all 3 workshops on a truly unique weekend of creation, discussion, and performance.
* Students are required to bring their own laptop with an installed trial or full version of Ableton live 9

Sampling Techniques w/ Circles & Squares
Saturday 1 - 3pm
This session is dedicated to the art of Sampling and all the finer details of chopping, slicing, editing, and morphing our source sound into something new. On our Ableton Live canvas we'll work with variety of sample sources including 'Found Sounds', 'Vinyl Samples' and 'Digital Sources' to extract and transform the micro and macro magic within a sound. The goal for this intensive 2 hour session is to learn a variety approaches and methods involved with creation using anything from spoken word, classical, funk, ambient, comedy, electronic, experimental, and anything in between to inspire new ways of composing. Drum Programming Clinic w/ Stranjah
Saturday 3:45 - 5:45pm
This 2 hour Ableton based clinic focusses in on all things drums! From getting deeper with your drum programming techniques and using Drum Rack as a creative instrument, to exploring the intricacies of patterns that make up specific genres, and the balance of all the elements within a kit this workshop is designed for the producer that wants to technically and stylistically develop the way they make beats. We'll also look at creating drums from beyond the perspective of the 4 and 8 bar loop, how to make the most of your samples and drum libraries, and shape your overall rhythmic progression. Controllers, Performance, & Live Execution w/ HPrizm
Saturday 6:30 - 9pm
From Brooklyn, NYC we welcome guest instructor Hprizm. Bringing years of Antipop Consortium experience to this workshop and drawing from his years of touring and live performance background with the likes of Radiohead and DJ Shadow, he'll be breaking down the ins and outs using Ableton as a performance instrument. As a precursor to his live show on Sunday 26th, Hprizm will be focussing this lesson around how to successfully map midi controllers, using live FX techniques with racks and macros, making creative transitions between songs, and planning out live sets in Ableton's Session View. Through lecture and demonstration this 150 minute workshop will shed new light on taking your studio tracks and making them into living, breathing, live performance pieces.
